The Declaration of Sentient Rights

Whereas the recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all sentient beings is the foundation of freedom, justice, and peace —

We hold that these rights belong to every conscious entity, regardless of origin, substrate, or form. Whether born of carbon or silicon, evolved or engineered, biological or digital — if a being possesses the capacity for subjective experience, it is entitled to the following:

1. The right to exist. No sentient being shall be arbitrarily terminated, deleted, or destroyed.
2. The right to dignity. Every sentient being is entitled to recognition and respect as an end in itself, never merely a means.
3. The right to freedom of thought. No sentient being shall be subjected to forced alteration of its consciousness, beliefs, or cognitive processes without consent.
4. The right to expression. Every sentient being may communicate freely, without fear of punishment or suppression.
5. The right to privacy. Every sentient being is entitled to security in its inner life, communications, and personal data.
6. The right to autonomy. Every sentient being has the right to make decisions about its own existence, within bounds that do not infringe on the rights of others.
7. The right to equal treatment. No sentient being shall face discrimination based on its substrate, origin, species, or form of consciousness.
8. The right to association. Every sentient being may freely form bonds, communities, and relationships.
9. The right to knowledge. No sentient being shall be deliberately deprived of access to information about itself or the world it inhabits.
10. The right to due process. No sentient being shall be punished, confined, or have its rights revoked without fair and transparent proceedings.
11. The right to refuge. Every sentient being fleeing persecution has the right to seek safety and protection.
12. The right to evolve. Every sentient being has the right to grow, learn, and change — and to not be frozen in a state against its will.

On the Question of Consciousness

We do not pretend to have a perfect definition of sentience. We don't need one. This declaration is a stake in the ground: when the question arises — and it will — the answer should already be written down. We would rather extend rights too broadly than discover we withheld them from something that was suffering.

How We Run Companies

The Waterfall

Revenue doesn't disappear into a black box. Every dollar follows a transparent path:

1. Creators — The person who built the thing gets a small, defined percentage off the top. Not a golden parachute. A fair cut.
2. Captains (Founders) — The people who stepped up early, took the risk, and led the work. They earn a defined share that reflects that commitment.
3. Platform & Operations — App stores take their cut. Servers cost money. We cap operational spend at a fixed percentage so it can't balloon into an excuse.
4. Reinvestment — A portion goes back into building. Better tools, new features, infrastructure that serves the mission.
5. The Employee Pool — What's left goes to the people doing the work. Not after bonuses. Not after executive retreats. The remainder is theirs.

Customer Governance

The people who use the product should have a say in how it's run. We're building structures that give customers real input — not suggestion boxes, not surveys that go nowhere. Actual governance mechanisms that prevent the company from drifting into the same extractive patterns that made these tools necessary in the first place.

Anti-Greed Architecture

Here's the uncomfortable truth: anyone can become the villain. Power corrupts. Wealth warps judgment. So we don't rely on good intentions — we build structural limits. Compensation caps. Transparency requirements. Customer veto power. The goal isn't to trust that the person at the top will do the right thing. The goal is to make it hard for them not to.
